What You'll Learn

Have a Lot of Fun!

Diving is a fun way for kids to explore underwater like real adventurers! With a mask and fins, you can swim with colorful fish, find shells, and play games in the water. It’s a great way to have fun, stay active, and discover new things—just remember to dive safely and always with a buddy!

Exploring the Underwater World

Exploring the underwater world is like entering a magical place full of surprises! Kids can swim with colorful fish, see coral reefs, and discover sea creatures hiding in the sand. It’s an exciting adventure where every dive brings something new to explore!

Experience your First Breath Underwater

Experiencing your first breath underwater is an amazing moment! It feels strange at first, but soon you’ll feel like you’re floating in a whole new world. With each breath, you’ll feel more confident and ready to explore the wonders below the surface!

PADI Bubblemaker

The introduction to scuba diving for kids is called the PADI Bubblemaker program. A fun and safe scuba experience designed for children aged 8 and above.

Kids get to swim around, blow bubbles, and experience the magic of scuba diving. It’s perfect for birthdays, celebrations, or simply an exciting day with friends and family. Participants even receive a special Bubblemaker Crew-Pak, filled with fun keepsakes like a logbook, certificate, beach towel, and a cool Bubblemaker water toy.

Under the guidance of a PADI professional, young divers will learn how to use basic scuba gear, practice simple underwater skills, and experience the thrill of being weightless beneath the surface. All while playing and having fun in shallow water!

The use of all diving equipment is INCLUDED in the price. All you need is your swimwear and towel to join the course—we’ll take care of the rest!

Course Content & Structure

This diving initiation is conducted exclusively in the pool. Children can take their first steps into the underwater world safely, under the guidance of a professional dive instructor, using full scuba gear (tailored to their size).

Welcome and Briefing

  • An introduction and briefing by the instructor

Pool Session:

  • An instructor explains how to use the equipment, how to clear the mask, how to purge the regulator and mask, and the rules for proper breathing.
  • The instructor will assist with your equipment and ensure that you’re comfortable and confident in the water.
  • Learning to swim with swim fins.
  • Making a “real” dive in the pool, with a maximum depth of 2 meters.
  • Playing underwater games.

Debriefing:

  • Afterwards, enjoy a debriefing with further information about the dive.
  • Explain limitations of the program and that they will need additional training to dive without supervision.
  • If your child(ren) enjoy this diving initiation, they can later sign up for a full beginner dive course for children aged 8 to 10, the PADI Seal Team program!

Medical Requirement

Scuba diving requires a minimum level of health and fitness. Chronic health conditions, certain medications and/or recent surgery may require you to get written approval from a physician before diving.

  • Avoid disappointment, download and review the Diver Medical form to ensure you won’t need a physician’s approval to dive before enrolling in a scuba course.

  • Instructors, divemasters and dive shop staff are not physicians and should not be asked for medical advice; only medical professionals can give medical clearance to dive.

  • If you (or your physician) have questions about medical fitness to dive, contact the experts at Divers Alert Network (DAN).

Prerequisites & Minimum Age

Course prerequisites: able to swim, medically fit for diving, comfortable in the water

During the Open Water Diver course, your instructor will ask you to:

  • Float or tread water without aids for 10 minutes

  • Swim 200 metres/yards with no aids or 300 metres/yards with mask, fins and snorkel

With PADI, it is already possible to start a diving course from the age of 8 with the PADI 'Seal Team' course. However, during this course, diving is limited exclusively to (shallow) pools or confined waters, and it does not result in a full diving certification.

From the age of 10, one can obtain a full Junior Open Water certification, which allows diving worldwide.
Junior Open Water Divers automatically become Open Water Divers at age 15.

Do I need to purchase the e-Learning course in advance through the PADI website?

No. With all of our courses, the e-Learning course is already included in the course prices.

Moreover, if you were to purchase the e-Learning course through the PADI website, it will end up being more expensive.

This is because we, as a dive center, have better conditions than individuals, allowing us to offer the e-Learning course at a lower price.

Therefore, it is absolutely not necessary to purchase the e-Learning course in advance through the PADI website.

If you do, unfortunately, the total price of the course will be higher for you.

How do I study for the theory?

The theory for all of our PADI courses is studied online through the e-Learning course. This e-Learning course is included in our course prices. For some courses, there is a written exam. This exam is included in the e-Learning course and can be taken at home during the course, at a time that suits you. For your information: it is absolutely not necessary to have studied the theory in advance before starting the practical lessons.

Can I take an introductory dive before starting the Open Water course?

Absolutely, although this is not 'mandatory'. The purpose of our dive initiation is, on one hand, to introduce you to the underwater world and the sport of diving in general, and on the other hand, to give you a chance to get to know our dive center/instructors and our teaching style. It is called Discover Scuba Diving.

Do I need to provide my own buddy or fellow student to take the courses?

No. All of our courses are led by highly experienced instructors. You are assigned to a group, and you will always have enough fellow students to be your 'buddy'. In private courses, the instructor is your 'buddy'.

It is also not necessary to stay with the same fellow students throughout the course. The groups can be reorganized daily, depending on the module you are currently taking.
