What You'll Learn

Explore below 18m/60ft

Explore below 18m/60ft to discover deeper marine life and underwater wonders. With proper training and safety, deeper dives offer exciting new experiences.

Use a compass

Use a compass underwater to navigate accurately and stay on course. Line up your heading, follow the direction, and check it often to avoid getting lost. It’s a key skill for safe and confident diving.

Improve your buoyancy

Improve your buoyancy to glide smoothly and stay in control underwater. Practice breathing steadily, adjust your weights properly, and fine-tune your BCD. Good buoyancy helps protect marine life and makes every dive more enjoyable.

PADI Advanced Open Water Diver

The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course is the next step in your diving journey after Open Water certification.

This course is designed to build confidence and enhance your diving skills while introducing you to new aspects of scuba diving. You don’t need to be an advanced diver to start. It’s actually best to take this course soon after completing your Open Water Diver certification to refine your techniques efficiently.

The Advanced Open Water Diver course is all about advancing your skills. You’ll practice navigation and buoyancy, try deep diving and make three specialty dives of your choosing (it’s like a specialty sampler platter). For every specialty dive you complete, you can earn credit toward PADI specialty certifications. Making this course a great way to expand your diving knowledge while gaining real-world experience under the guidance of an experienced instructor.

Course Content & Structure

The PADI Reactivate Program consists of a comprehensive refresher session, including an optional theoretical review through e-Learning and practical training. The course is designed to help certified divers regain confidence and refine essential diving skills before returning to fun diving.

  • Controlled emergency swimming ascent – Perform a CESA in an controlled environment horizontally.

Theory at Your Own Pace (=Optional):

  • Study the theory at home or on your vacation, at your convenience, using the ‘Reactivate e-Learning’ package included in the course fee.
  • Once you pass the online theoretical exam, and your training, only then you are qualified to get your certification.

Open Water Sessions:

  • After mastering the skills in confined water, it’s time to apply them in the ocean! Together with your instructor, head to our beautiful house reef in Kerveli Bay of Samos!

Medical Requirement

Scuba diving requires a minimum level of health and fitness. Chronic health conditions, certain medications and/or recent surgery may require you to get written approval from a physician before diving.

  • Avoid disappointment, download and review the Diver Medical form to ensure you won’t need a physician’s approval to dive before enrolling in a scuba course.

  • Instructors, divemasters and dive shop staff are not physicians and should not be asked for medical advice; only medical professionals can give medical clearance to dive.

  • If you (or your physician) have questions about medical fitness to dive, contact the experts at Divers Alert Network (DAN).

Prerequisites & Minimum Age

Course prerequisites: PADI Open Water Diver, Junior Open Water Diver, or qualifying entry-level certification.

The minimum age to start the Advanced Open Water Diver course is 12.

  • Divers 15 or older earn an Advanced Open Water Diver certification
  • Divers between the age of 12-14 earn a Junior Advanced Open Water
  • Divers 10-11 can earn a Junior Adventure Diver certification. Upon turning 12, they can complete the deep dive and earn a Junior Advanced Open Water Diver certification.
  • Divers certified as Junior Advanced Open Water Divers automatically become Advanced Open Water Divers at age 15. Any replacement certification card or eCard purchased the day after the diver's 15th birthday will automatically show an Advanced Open Water Diver (not Jr. Advanced Open Water Diver) certification.

Do I need to purchase the e-Learning course in advance through the PADI website?

No. With all of our courses, the e-Learning course is already included in the course prices.

Moreover, if you were to purchase the e-Learning course through the PADI website, it will end up being more expensive.

This is because we, as a dive center, have better conditions than individuals, allowing us to offer the e-Learning course at a lower price.

Therefore, it is absolutely not necessary to purchase the e-Learning course in advance through the PADI website.

If you do, unfortunately, the total price of the course will be higher for you.

After this course

During the Advanced Open Water course, you'll try different types of specialty diving and discover your diving aptitude and interests. As an added bonus, each dive you make may be credited toward the related specialty certification.
